Designed to give all-over cushioning without the use of moving parts, the Selle Italia Max Flite Gel Flow Bicycle Saddle has a large base and extra padding, with a specific soft tissue relief design that reduces pressure in key areas. Featuring a 10% carbon composite shell with elastomer suspension to reduce shock, the saddle also has differentiated-thickness silicone gel inserts for added comfort. It's also covered in breathable full grain leather to prevent perspiration. - L.M.

This is the third saddle a bought and this max flite is a real improvement from the old itala gel I got. Be aware that the gel stuff make it hard when first installed. Take around 200KM to get softer. Shock absober really does the job. Recommend, especially for the price I got (83$ CAD)...
I've tried a few cut-out saddles over the years but never found them to fit me quite right. Usually the cut out introduced a new pressure point. This one is the best cut out I've tried and the best looking. It's rather flat and stays out of the way when on the drops but was not comfortable in a more upright position on the brake hoods, which is where I ride most of the time. When I bought this, I also ordered a Fabric Scoop on sale just in case the Max Flight Gel didn't work for me. I am very glad I did because the Fabric Scoop is a near perfect match for my anatomy and ridind style. The Max Flight will go on my indoor trainer bike. I am hoping the cut-out will offer some cooling ventillation during indoor workouts.
It's amazing what a professional bike fit will throw up...
While the LBS that originally fitted me was as thorough as you can be with a turbo trainer and plumb bob (they roll Old School, what can I say?) I didn't know I needed a saddle approximately 5mm wider either side until I got to speak with someone who understood kinesiology (look it up).
Good thing the bike fit boys only gave me dimensions and didn't try to sell me anything. "Seats are as personal as shoes or bars, so find something you and your sit bones like. Just do your research."
I was a bit wary of Selle Italia saddles as I'd ridden one of their XO gel saddles on my hardtail and it was, to put it diplomatically, unbelievably uncomfortable. However, the shape and size of the Selle Italia Flite MAX fit the bill perfectly and while I've only covered a few hundred km, the new found comfort is very welcome.
I don't know how they do it but the genuine gel in this Selle Italia saddle is firm but squishy and supportive at the same time. Though what really does it for me is the cut out, which is both wide and long enough to make you forget about the pins & needles discomfort you used to encounter an hour into every previous ride. In addition to the comfort, this is a quality saddle, beautifully made and finished, which also makes a stylish addition to my Bianchi C2C 928.
I'm very happy with my purchase and continue to be impressed by PBK's excellent customer service and ultra-competitive pricing. AUD280? no, I don't think so...
