Excellent product. Come usual, it meets my needs in terms of quality and especially the priceproductReport this review
Recently I returned to road bike and indulged myself with a cervelo S5 VWD. When selecting the components I went for SRAM RED all the way for the weight and being so impressed on how fast the shifting happened. The shifting from shimano dura-ace seamed slow and the handle less pleasant in comparison. With the miles I found the shifting imprecise and needing to be readjusted constantly. Also being in mountains I had to regear and found the cassette 22-30 only to exist in shimano. When receiving the shimano cassette, as an engineer I was disappointed with the construction vs sram. However the new gearing was perfect for the hills in my region. Still was not perfect, so I ordered the dura-ace directional chain. Wow! now all shifts precisely and smoothly. I believe this SRAM-SHIMANO combination is the best of both worlds and I just love the bike. I know people will say that the S5 is not for hills, but it is, and now being 50 I can still pass my younger friends riders in most conditions. This bike fly's and brings me a smile every ride!Report this review
best directional chain and also best price on the marketReport this review
I've been using Dura-Ace components since the early '90's. Prior to that I raced with Campagnolo. Since switching to DA I've never looked back. I presently ride a Colnago EP with DA 7800. I've always used the 7800/7801 chain. I just put a new 7901 chain on. This will now be my chain of choice. It is silky smooth, shifting is as usual, flawless and this chain is simple to install and maintain. I'm going to switch to DA 9000 over the coming winter but for now this is the only chain I'll use. Thanks PBK for, once again a great selection, service and price!Report this review
I decided to upgrade to this chain after my Ultegra wore out and I feel it's worth the extra dollars.
The shifts are noticeably smoother and upshifts are a bit faster too. I would like to report on wear but I've only done 1100 kms but it would be fair to assume it should last longer than cheaper chains with the alloy treatment.
All in all very happy with this upgrade and worth the upgrade
As I do alot of hill work I'm hard on chains so with the 7901 2000klms and the chain is done, which is not as good as the 7801 but then there is almost always a trade off for lighter weight.Report this review
The chain is quiet and the gear changes are very smooth with the 7900 Dura Ace group set. The chain normally last about 3500km to 4000km, but I always check it with the chain checker, as soon as it shows wear, I change it before it wears the cassette and cranks.Report this review
Great chain, works best with 7900 cassettes (as in new Dura Ace 10 speed 7900 series). didn't believe it would work better than the 7801 until I swapped over! Wears well with the new Dura Ace cassettes but not as long lasting as its predecessor (7801)Report this review
