My second set of Speedplay Zeros, and they work very well, as anticipated. Don't have to look down to engage. Can adjust the float precisely to avoid any shoe contact with either crank arms or chain stays. The release pressure can be set to minimize anxiety about either standing on the pedals or stopping. Just have to keep them clean and lubricated to assure they perform properly; so not for the low-maintenance-inclined. Now also trying the new more walkable cleats, which should last longer due to reduced ground contact wear, in addition to being more comfortable and assured off the bike. Zeros, with the much more walkable cleat, unequaled, in my experience, which includes various Shimano and Look pedal systems over 50 years on the bike.Report this review
I was on X Series Speedplays for quite a while and I switched to Zeros, these are much better the cleat system is far more secure than the Xs. And bonus is that the price from PBK can't be beat!Report this review
I like those pedal very much. I already got a pair on one of my bike and I buy a second pair for my other bike, because it's the best pair that I ever got.Report this review
Wasn't able to clip in initially. Changed the shims to better fit my shoes and used a dry lube on the clip ring. I was able to clip in after that with some difficulty but it has since become very easy to clip in. I commute and what I like most is even if I don't get the clip in on the first try as long as I'm lined up I can reliably push on the pedal and worry about clipping in later. Same thing on shimano pedals and my foot launches off like the pedal is coated in butter. I've found my knees are feeling better after switching to these pedals. The float is fantastic. I initially found it difficult to sprint with the float set to max but I've come to like the float on the sprint. I like the way that the clips rotate as the bike moves side to side. Some will prefer to lock down the float for the sprint and if that's your preference you can always lock the float. Short comings: maintenance to keep the cleat lubed, no grip on the bottom of the cleat, difficult to walk in. There was an initial learning curve but in the end well worth the effort and I prefer these pedals to other systems even with the short comings.Report this review
Speedplay pedals are so easy to use. No toe-flipping of pedals, no stepping on the wrong sides. Just snap in. Colors and style are fun, matching my frame. My knees have always hurt some when cycling, especially on longer rides, but these allow for enough float so no mechanical caused pain - I can focus on personal pain. One tip - don't forget to grease them (one of the small pains), and they'll last a long time. I grease them when I clean my chain.Report this review
Brought these mainly for the two sided entry. have to say they work a treat riding through city areas with traffic lights every 10m! easy to get in and out of, no stress or panicking!
Takes a bit of time to get used to the clipping in, as they are stiff, just ensure screws arent super tight on first ride and off you go!
Great pedals. They are super easy for getting in to due to the 2 sided design. This is great when riding in traffic and for those who have the daily commute it is a real saftey advantage. They require a bit of maintenance but not so much that it is a problem.
The only draw back is the cost of the cleats. They last a while but when it comes time to replace they are not cheap.
All in all a great all type of riding pedal.
These were my intro to Speedplay pedals since using Look Keo. These have been invaluable for commuting - esp as they are quick to release when you need it (in an emergency), yet wont release if you're. This depends on the degree of float that you dial in. These don't require you to look down at all. And the double sided nature of these meant that I could stomp down while looking ahead and get faster off the mark when cycling ahead of traffic. I feel well connected to the cranks as the stack height is low. They will need some time to break in, but not long. In all, if you want to use the Speedplay system without the cost, these are a great start.Report this review
The double sided design is the main advantage of these pedals, making them very quick and easy to get in and out of. The smaller pedals also make it easier to corner quickly due to the higher clearance.
