This is my third pair of Time RXS pedals from PBK. They all work great. Bearings are smooth, I guess the only thing to do is upgrade to the latest pedals from Time.
I purchased these Time RXS Carbon pedals because they are a more recent version of the Old Time Pedals I bought 25 years ago. A lot has changed since then. 233 grams for this new pair compared to 465 grams for my pair of old ones. The Pros: Great Price Light Weight Once clipped, you feel like your feet are welded to your crankset even though some movement is possible Great transfer of power to the drivetrain because the bottom of your feet are closer to the pedal axis, just like the old ones with the 9,5 mm offset ! The Cons: Yes, they are light. But I doubt they would survive a fall and slide. The cleats are made of soft plastic, which makes them squeak a bit when climbing hills. I hope they thougt about replacement cleats with harder plastic and a bit more metal... Like the old Time cleats. Hard to clip to your pedals, and I think the soft plastic is responsible for that fact. The front of the cleat is too soft. I will definitely search for replacement cleats. If they don't exist, I hope this review get to their factory ! Cheers !
Simply put, these are the best road clipless pedals I have ever used. They do not have the insane spring tension of Look (and the shimano derivatives), they float freely and simply last forever. I have a pair of c. 2005 vintage RXS carbons that are still running happily with ~50,000 km on them. Yes, the body is wearing (grooving), but after 50K K, I most definitely got my money out of them. I do replace cleats yearly in the spring, but I have gone through 3 pairs of Sidi's in that time... Highest praise from me.
Very low stack height and has lateral play without too much free float. The bearingsand outer bush do require a re-pack from time to time and the cleats don't tolerate a lot of walking about (the toe piece wears out and is required to keep the system creak free
