Needed to replace the Specialised Body Geometry saddle on my hybrid which was beginning to wear after some sterling service . Got my sit bones measured so knew I was looking for a wider "performance" style replacement which would be at home both on and off road. Did my research and was swayed by reviews I had seen on Selle SMP products and as PBK had a well priced selection took the plunge on the SMP4 Extreme. This is an unusual but good looking saddle which is certainly the business on my copper coloured frame . More importantly its pretty comfortable. Regularly cycle for 3-4 hours and occasionally longer and so far the saddle has measured up well being supportive without being over-padded. The rails are good and long and also calibrated so it's simple to set and adjust your position and the undulating shape poses no issues if you like to move around a lot as I do. Additionally the "eagle beak" nose does a good job of not catching on shorts or tights when you are in or out of the saddle and the wide channel groove eliminates man - bit numbness. Saddles are a personal thing but the SMP4 works for me. Add in a decent pair of padded shorts and a smear of chamois cream and you can concentrate on your ride , not your discomfort .
I placed this saddle my city commuter C'Dale M2000 and believe me on the roads here in Louisiana you need all the padding you can get. I realized after a few rides I would try it without padded shorts and it's just as comfy without them, I'm very impressed with the SMP, I plan to purchase another SMP for my C'Dale roadie. PBK has offered the best pricing as well, thanks guys!
I've purchased many saddles and particularly like the Selle SMP brand. I have many of the TRK version on my multple road bikes, so when I saw the Selle SMP Extreme on sale, I figured it would be a good buy. I was right. As usual, the padding is spot on and the saddle itself is very comfortable. I particularly like the bright graphics on this one - it stands out from the others. The padding is a bit different, but more comfortable than some of the others I have. They tout this one as their mountain biking version of this fine saddle, and I feel that this would be true - I've had the saddle out for a spin or two, and the feel is more damped then the others. Slightly softer padding and ginormous cutout make for a very comfy ride. Multiple Thumbs Up for this model!!!!!! By the way, I bought the larger sized one to accomodate a more comfortable ride for my behind.
