Great training tyre

I've been using these as training tyres now for a few years after my local shop stopped stocking the Specialized Armadillo. Great puncture resistance and roll pretty well. Also pretty happy with the durability - plenty of k's out of these.

Little disappointing that the twin pack is the same price as two singles though...

Durable and fast tires

I tend to run one of these on my rear wheel and use a 4000s in the front for my everyday riding. I've found the 4000s to not be durable enough on the rear, but the Gatorskins hold up great. I have around 2k on my current tire and it's still going strong.

I know that the hardshell versions are out there now, but for me, these have been perfect. I can't see a reason to change...

This tire has an Achilles Side.

I had numerous flat tires through the sidewalls mainly because I did not have maximum pressure. I actually tore the side wall and had the tube sticking out. There was 2500 miles on this tire at that time.

Unpuncturable

Solid tyres, fairly well unbreakable. Ridden them over glass, heaps of rough bitumen (rough enough to loosen my headset after a few thousand km), a bit of gravel and anything else you can imagine. Its a good feeling coming up to a rough patch of road, or a patch of smashed glass and not getting worried because you know you're rolling on Gators. I did have a slip once when I went to sprint around a corner, but otherwise they feel solid on the road - in the dry, wet, or descending.

If you're looking for a put-on-and-forget training tyre no matter where you ride, choose these.

Perfect Commuter tyre -

I use these everyday for commuting to and from work. Love the confidence you feel knowing no matter the gravel, rocks or glass you might find on your way, these tyres are up for the task and won't likely go flat.

Good performance to boot as well...

Heavy and slow

Puncture resisitant yes, but too much penalty in weight and resistance. get the GP4000S instead, faster, lighter and more comfortable, grip as well and nearly as puncture resistant

Solid tires, smooth rolling

Had about 200 miles on these so far. Excellent tires and still look clean. There are no cuts and the grooves look sharp.

Solid for training and commuting.

Has tough tread and rolls well. It's a tight fit though, and the sidewalls aren't that sturdy

This is the most popular 700x23 road tyre in the UK, according to Continental. So the law of averages might explain the tyre’s critics. We’ve never had any problem with Gatorskins, so long as they’re kept topped up. They grip fine, roll very well, and they’re tough through the tread, thanks to a polyester breaker strip underneath.

The sidewalls are more vulnerable, despite a bead-to-bead Duraskin mesh, but we’ve never torn them on the road. The wire bead version is £5 cheaper. Given the kind of grimy winter bike this tyre might end up on, that option represents keener value.

Great Tyre

These tyres last for ever!!!! only down side they are a little slippery in the wet, but a great training tyre

Very puncture resistant tire

Road conditions here in Northern Nevada, USA are pretty bad- lots of broken glass and what we call "goat heads", which will puncture pretty much any tire. Of the many heavier duty tires I have tried, these are the best, though aren't puncture PROOF. Probikekit has the best prices and best service (fast shipping to USA), so what's not to love?
