The Grand Prix 4000S II boasts global appeal as the best all round race bike tyre on the market. Not only is it fast and super grippy, thanks to its state of the art BlackChili rubber compound, but it is also tough with a healthy tread layer and of course Continental's Vectran anti puncture breaker layer underneath. So for reliability, longevity and all out performance for your race machine, the GP 4000S II is the only choice.
How are these figures possible? The carbon filler particles within the rubber compound are reduced to 1/10th of the size of standard carbon particles. This creates a closer knit with the particles having more points of contact with each other, thus forming a tighter bond, (increasing mileage performance) and also with the road (increasing grip). Also the way in which the particles interact with each other has a dramatic effect on reducing rolling resistance. Black Chili is used by several ProTour and Continental teams as shown opposite.
The all new Vectran breaker belt, developed and patented by Continental, surpasses even the famous puncture resistance of the former leader in this category, the GP3000. The extremely strong Vectran fabrics are more flexible and lighter than all other puncture protection materials. Vectran offers more resistance to cuts than Aramid, is five times as strong as steel and features less weight than a nylon double breaker. It also maintains strength in the wet.

The inner tube used to go out on the side of the front tire after only 4 weeks of use.
Best all around road tire I've used. Fast rolling, supple, comfortable, grippy and an all around pleasure to ride. I will be buying more of these for my other bikes. I recommend them to all my cycling friends.
I have been trying various brand of clincher tires over the years and the Continental Grand Prix 4000S II are by far the best tires I have tried.
The GP4000S II province de great grip on dry pavement and instil confidence in those high speed sharp bends as go get through them. I’ve used them for approx 5 years. The first couple years I was getting many flats most due to bad luck but a couple unexplained sidewalk rips which really discouraged me and had me looking elsewhere. I did stick with them and have only had one flat in the past 3 years. They are not the most durable tire however and I don’t ride them in the spring when there is more debris. I feel that you have to baby them just a bit but but the trade off is excellent road feel, grippy confidence inspiring rubber, and a speedy smooth ride.
Very happy with the product and excellent price.Arrived at stated date. Will use again.
Purchased new tires for my bike. Haven't swapped them yet but the reviews on the Conti GT 4000S II were great so decided to give them a try. The price at Probikekit was amazing and they arrived to Canada quickly and hassle free. Can't wait to try them out.
Live these tires. My 23mm's are nearing the end of their life after 6000 Km's. I just had my first flat last week, so I'm gonna put the new 25mm tires on and I fully expect them to be as good or better than the super grippy, super fast, smooth 23's.
After ordering wider c17 wheels, I discovered that my beloved 25 contis became almost 28 mm wide and didn't fit my frame anymore. So I had to order 23 which measures between 25 and 26 and fit perfectly on wider rims. The original 25 had few cuts and nicks that developed during 2000km I used them, no punctures though, so far I'm pretty happy with them. And the grip and cornering is top notch.
I have used a number of brands and I always keep coming back to these. Have ridden 5000+ kms. on a number of sets and the wear marks are still visible. Your best bang for the buck.
What's not to love about these tires? They're super fast (I easily coast away from riding partners on slight downhills), super grippy (give me great confidence in the corners, wet or dry), and have amazing puncture resistance for a race tire. I used to use Gatorskins for training because of the rubble on the road shoulders around here, but I've found the Grand Prix 4000S II is almost as durable (only one puncture in 3 seasons... and that includes riding on some really rough roads, and off road, in Mexico).
