Continental Grand Prix 5000 Clincher Road Tire

CAD

Continental’s GP5000 brings improvements to the very successful and popular GP4000S II, a road bike tyre one of the best all-round cycling tyres ever made. Improving on such a widely respected tyre might have seemed like a daunting task. But the tyre-making giants stayed true to their reputation of continually innovating, and have produced a lighter, grippier, quicker tyre which also offers better puncture resistance than its predecessor. Note, this is an individual tyre, we also sell the GP5000 in a twin pack.

The Hot Compound

Continental are famed for their Black Chili rubber compound, which can be manipulated to suit the needs of a specific tyre. Compared to the Grand Prix 5000's predecessor, the tyre makers have been able lower weight by 10 grams in a 25 mm width, reduce rolling resistance by 12%, and increase puncture protection and durability by 20%. Cornering ability has also been improved thanks to the brand's proprietary Laser Grip Technology. This bit of tech creates a micro tread pattern over the shoulder of the tyre, meaning the GP5000 allows you to confidently nail any corner.

Faster, Smoother, More Comfort

Gone are the days in which it was thought that rattling around on a rock-hard 18 mm tyre was fast; it's now known that a more comfortable tyre can be a faster tyre. That's why Continental offers the GP5000 up to 32 mm in width. It's also constructed with Active Comfort Technology which helps to iron out those bumps and shocks you'll inevitably encounter on the roads. Lining the tyre is an ultra-lightweight and tear-resistant fibre called Vectran. With these fancy fibres the GP5000 offers incredible puncture protection, not only for race-oriented tyre but for a tyre regardless. So, whether you exclusively train on silky smooth tarmac in Majorca or race the cobbles of Belgium, you can be confident you have a tyre that will out-perform the competition whatever the condition.

Great tire but a bit tight

The delivery is fast and well packed. First time using GP5000 , all this while GP4000S giving me no issue for decade. This G5000 is a bit tight compared to its predecessor. The grip and rolling feeling is as good as GP4000s.

Great tyre as expected

Delivery is fast and well packed. One of the best tyre with discounted Price.

Road Tyres

Bought another Continental GP 5000 25mm Black clincher tyre to replace the same. Usually buy a twin pack. Preferred the GP 4000's until they were discontinued. Have been using Continental GP's for years. Have worn out 3 in the past year doing 11,300kms on NZ roads.

Conti's

Awesome service from Probike kit and of course 1st class tyres

Mr

Thought I was buying 6 tires but order somehow got duplicated Call but was told order was in cue and once received we could try to work it out Not to pleased But I have used them many other times and every thing was perfect

Tyre of Choice return buyer

I ride these tyres on gravel and road in Victoria Yarra valley. Not great roads. 4000 kms two punctures. 88-90psi in the rear 83-85 psi in the front. Great grippy fast tyres. Can’t understand while people are having troubles with blown sidewalls. Maybe they are over inflating them.

Very good and reliable

Happy with these tires. About 4000 km with them. Never had issues putting them on (I had at least three flats, all repaired at the spot (some in rain and cold)), despite others' suggestions to the contrary. I am getting a new set for the next season.

Conti GP 5000 Clincher

I have 2000 miles on two (different) bikes with these and no issues. Handling is sticky, predictable and fantastic. Not that you can expect to get away with anything stupid on these or other road tires. I have been known to do short gravel stretches (when needed) without incident as well. Very satisfied customer.

Too small!!!

So ridiculous how these are so difficult to get on a standard 700c 23-25 wheel. Should've listened to the other reviews. So regret buying these.

This tyres reputation speaks for itself

Fitted to my race wheels for a long distance Triathlon. Installation was hassle free and the tyre has not faltered. Yes there are more aero options out there (but not many), but not with the same reliability, durability and robustness as the GP5000. Check out AeroCoach for his Wind tunnel data on Tyres. Great read and very informative around tyre options and aerodynamics
