great tyres - easy to fit

5

Got these for a 130km gravel ride. Set them up tubeless on Hunt 4 Season Gravel wheels. Tyres popped onto the rims with a floor pump. Found that running 35 psi front 40 psi rear works well Hard packed surface they roll great, can be a little squirmy if the dirt is loose. PBK only had 40s else I would have gone for the smaller size and run a slightly higher pressure

Gravel Review

The tire has a nice tread pattern for speed and bites well when tire pressure is low. On hardpacked dirt the rear tire tread is a bit close and traction can be difficult to get on the rear. On loose stuff it handled fine. I did go lower on tire pressure then I do when using gravel kings of similar width.

Not Impressed

Spent some time looking for the right tire and landed on this tire after reading multiple positive reviews. Unfortunately I've had nothing but bad luck. The Front Tire doesn't want to hold air and goes flat every night. First ride it only managed to last 30km and has done better every subsequent ride (up to 85km) but doesn't last the night. The Rear Tire didn't survive its first actual gravel ride, all previous rides had been on road. However, the first gravel ride it got a sidewall slash... Just my luck that my first set of actual gravel tires dont survive.

Very good tyres

Fitted to some inexpensive Mason-Hunt 700c wheels: they roll really well together. A bit draggy on tarmac, so if that’s a big part your rides maybe a slicker tyre would be better. For gravel and grass they’re excellent. Went on easily and sealed well enough without fluid to hold pressure overnight, which is a good sign for how well they seal.

Great Gravel Tyre

4

I've been using these tyres on my adventure road bike for several months, they're great on gravel and good on the road. The only drawback is that they wear quick if you ride a lot of tarmac but the performance off road outweighs this for me. They can be a bit awkward to fit but persevere and you will have tubeless wonders - I've pulled lots of 1 inch thorns out but the sealant has sealed the hole quickly without much air loss. The price and service from Pro Bike Kit is excellent as always. Thumbs up from me.

they work

4

These tires work when sealed. I've had no issues but I do feel they wear out a bit quicker than other tires I've used. But that's to be expected when your ride has more pavement than gravel. As for the reviewer that said there is a wobble even when releasing air and reinflating....I've had that same issue with these tires. Even my soap/water mixture on the bead didn't help (maybe I needed more soap), but then I wiped on silicon spray lubricant with a rag on the bead and I had no issues with it seating. I've never had this issue with schwalbe tubeless. Maybe the michelin sidewalls/bead are a little gripier.

Michelin power gravel

Michelin power gravel tyres are great tyres. Fit tubeless well. Fast . Grip well. Don't flat. But they have woeful durability. With a solid centre strip they would be pretty good

Excellent choice

I have now gone through 2 sets of the 40mm version on a touring/gravel bike, running them tubeless on Pacenti rims. Yes, it takes a couple of rides for the sealant to fill up all the little leaks, but once it does I have had zero problems. I have used these over a combination of surfaces from bitumen, to coarse gravel, 4 wheel drive tracks, sharp rocks and sand. I have ridden them through streams. I have had zero punctures (that I am aware of). I am astonished at what they have tolerated. I have now done thousands of kilometres on them, including most riding with panniers. I have had the pressures anywhere between 25 and 70 PSI, depending on the terrain. At high pressures they roll on bitumen well and on low pressures grip well on gnarly gravel. The rear tyres wear out after about 2000km of rough treatment each time, with the nobbles being worn flat, so they are not like a really tough touring tyre eg. Schwalbe Marathon - but that is not what you are buying them for. Highly recommend
