The 2010 Fulcrum Racing 5 Clincher Wheelset is fantastic value. The new Racing 5 is designed for everyday use and training. An optimum proposal from Fulcrum which guarantees excellent quality.
Key Features:
- The hubs are completely new: oversized and provided with flanges for blade hammer-head spokes. Smoothness is ensured by sealed high-quality bearings and they have a new single-piece body which incorporates the freewheel body and pawl carrier in a single component with a considerable reduction of weight.
- The spokes have blade hammer-heads of the Aero type and differentiated thickness, 20 in the front wheel and 24 in the rear wheel.
- There is radial spoking for the front wheel and the patented Fulcrum 2:1 Two-to-One Spoke Ratio for the rear wheel.
- Also unchanged is the presence of Dynamic Balance which, thanks to two oversized spokes, balances the concentration of the rim joint material during wheel rotation.
- The rim is a medium-sectioned one with a height of 24 mm with reinforcing eyelets for the spokes and turned braking surfaces.
- The new Racing 5 wheels have a deeper upper bridge of the rim to facilitate clincher tyre fitting.

nice first upgrade
This is my first wheel set I bought for my bike. Not the lightest but the set saved me just over a pound from the stock set. These are great everyday/training wheels, especially since they won't break the bank
Seem to handle rough roads and anything else I can throw at it and they stay true.
Great training set
I have these on two different backup bikes(rain and commuter). They are definitely not light(mine come in at 1824 minus skewers), but hold up very well on rough roads. I would not say they are exceptionally stiff though, so seek other wheels for that purpose. For those that care, these are mildly loud when coasting but it's a very nice sound. Cassette body holds up very well and is not gouged easily. They roll very smooth and spoke tension is very good. No pings or other unwanted sounds when sprinting or climbing out of the saddle. Basically, these are a very solid,workhorse type wheelset, that will hold up nicely for most anyone. A real solid value.
excellent everyday wheel set
I have ridden a set of Fulcrum 5s for 3 years, they have taken everything thrown at them. Roll vary fast, absolutely fly on down hill. They may not be the lightest, or sexiest but they are the wheel I recommend to everyone needing a versatile long lasting wheel set. Recently purchased a set for my girl friend, she noticed the the feel quickly. Yes, some are lighter, but this is the wheel set I will put on my next roadie
