Ace rear light

I sat and waited when i knew this was coming out last year; 250 lumen rear light with lane markers: a no-brainer safety light (compared to any other offering) especially for those of us that commute home in the dark over winter Modes on main light: High/Med/Low, flash, pulse. I put on pulse as i feel it draws most attention on me for cars approaching behind in the dark... you get a mix of steady and flashing in the same mode. It is VERY bright... but not so as to dazzle approaching cars. that being said as a cyclist I wouldnt want to be on somebodys wheel if it was going mental... it would Lane markers: Flash and constant: I have on constant. Lane lines are approximately 1.5-2m long (I guess depending on height from the ground!). Some rear mudguards may block this if you've fitted everything a bit close (vertically) together. Not very wide/adjustable though. Supplied bracket fits to your seat post via a thick rubber adjustable strap, then light unit can be clipped on/off easily. Annoyingly I cant see where to buy spare brackets to lock in my settings for each of my bikes (see issues below) Outcome: I feel more confident riding on darker roads (commute home) and since having it on (compared to a cheaper flasher) I haven't had any near-miss overtakes in 8 months of use. Cars also seem to give me a bit more clearance at junctions (i.e. don't drive right up my backside putting me under pressure). I would *definitely* recommend this unit For my needs/expectations it works perfectly, but drops 1 star due to following issues: 1. The strap only just gets around my aero seat post at a real stretch (ie not sure of durability of it at this stage - plus cant see where to buy spares) 2. Lane markers could be adjustable sideways to account for mounting height and if you ride on left or right of the road. You can twist the mount and jam in a bit of rubber to hold it in place so your right lane marker goes out wide. By default (for my 56cm road bike) i get about 60cm, but I tilted it out to 1m - this should be designed into the product as it will be a scenario all users will probably encounter. Either adjustable lenses on the lasers, or some rotation in the bracket mount wouldn't go amiss. I have to recalibrate my lines when I move the light from bike to bike. Id also prefer the projected lines to be a bit thicker/more obvious 3. Battery seems to just run out rather than say with my Lezyne light device dropping to a "get me home" low power mode. As a rear light this is somewhat important as you might not notice it has run out because you don't tend to look under your seat when cycling forwards, and also if a rear-approaching car doesn't see you... then you are unlikely to be able to take evasive action as you wont see them until its too late All in all this is real progress in rear lights, and I wouldn't hesitate buying again. To me its one of the best you can get.
