Bib Shorts

Discount price makes them cost effective. Not as good as other shorts I ride in but acceptable.

pbk knicks

Excellent value for money. My second pair, using these every day. Fit, comfort and finish on par with knicks costing three times the asking price. Do yourself a favour and try them.

Great value

5

I've bought several PBK shorts over the years and have been happy with the great value in these long wearing line of shorts. This pair appears to be of similar quality and value.

A few rides down the road

4

These are my second pair of cycling bibs. My first are a pair of very expensive "boutique" type bibs. When I started looking into reviews and prices for cycling garments I was surprised at the extreme range. I decided that I would firstly get a well reviewed, expensive set of bibs and then a second pair of something more affordable. The expensive bibs are very comfy and feel like they were expensive. The material is a little more substantial and the chamois is also very comfy on the saddle. It set the bar pretty high. My PBK Heritage St-Germain Bib Shorts fit the "something more affordable" are a good value for the price. I got them on special and while there are some minor quality differences I think they're completely serviceable. It does feel a bit like the chamois is slightly off-center compared to the other shorts I have or possibly the padding isn't quite as consistent. This isn't anything that makes riding them uncomfortable but it's a minor difference in feel. For 2 or 3 hours in the saddle they are fine. I think I'd probably opt for my other bibs if I was going out for a full day of riding (although I suspect either would be fine). I have to admit that I'm slightly concerned that these bibs might be a bit transparent in bright, direct sunlight. I'd really prefer not to expose passing cars or group riders to such a view of my backside on a regular basis. I haven't really had a chance to get anyone to confirm this as it's an awkward question and difficult to do solo. The reason I suspect they might be slightly transparent is because when I pull the material up tightly in my hip it appears to show a lighter color in the sheen of the material, like the lighter color of my skin. It's hard to describe but the other shorts I have don't do this. It could be that the material uses some lighter colored fibers in the textiles and I'm simply being paranoid. I'm giving them 4 stars because they are quite similar to the other bibs in terms of performance, fit and function. Considering the difference in price I would definitely say these bibs are a good value and that a slightly more comfy chamois would probably get 5 stars from me. Now let the test of time begin.

Best value over performance

5

It is tight but just enough to grip my thigh but not leaving any mark on it. The material is thin enough to let the skin breath properly but not making it too cold in a morning ride. I would say if someone is thinking their budget tight then buy this one and you won't regret.
