The Grand Prix 4000S II boasts global appeal as the best all round race bike tyre on the market. Not only is it fast and super grippy, thanks to its state of the art BlackChili rubber compound, but it is also tough with a healthy tread layer and of course Continental's Vectran anti puncture breaker layer underneath. So for reliability, longevity and all out performance for your race machine, the GP 4000S II is the only choice.
How are these figures possible? The carbon filler particles within the rubber compound are reduced to 1/10th of the size of standard carbon particles. This creates a closer knit with the particles having more points of contact with each other, thus forming a tighter bond, (increasing mileage performance) and also with the road (increasing grip). Also the way in which the particles interact with each other has a dramatic effect on reducing rolling resistance. Black Chili is used by several ProTour and Continental teams as shown opposite.
The all new Vectran breaker belt, developed and patented by Continental, surpasses even the famous puncture resistance of the former leader in this category, the GP3000. The extremely strong Vectran fabrics are more flexible and lighter than all other puncture protection materials. Vectran offers more resistance to cuts than Aramid, is five times as strong as steel and features less weight than a nylon double breaker. It also maintains strength in the wet.

I’ve bought these and previous models and they are fantastic. Never had a puncture. My view is to always buy good tires and I don’t think you can get much better than these.
This is a really great tire for all around cycling. Nice ride, quite supple, great handling. On the negative, which for me is unforgivable, is that the sidewalls are extremely prone to failure. This makes them dangerous, and untrustworthy. I have owned two sets of the previous GP4000 and never had a problem with either, and ran them between 3-4000 miles each. With these, the pair both catastrophically suffered from sidewall failure, both with less than 400 miles on them. In both cases, the roads were smooth, and free of grit, they just gave way, and burst. Have suffered through a bad crash, I could never buy these again.
Have used these tires for years. They provide excellent grip and feel great on the smooth and rougher roads. They inspire confidence when cornering and hold their grip nicely. I have found they get a little jumpy after 3000-4000km and lose their grip slightly by that point. No issues with flats although ride easy on large gravel...that is where I had my single flat over the past two years.
The continential grand prix 4000 S II are the best road tires I have ever ridden on. I found these to have the best combination of rolling resistance, puncture resistance, durability, and speed. Found these to be an all-around excellent, dependable, fast tire for a good price. I would use them for a race, and for everyday commuting. These go on sale frequently, so always grab a pair when you can. Only downside is that there is no tubeless option. Dealing with probikekit was great. I went cheap and chose the free non-tracked shipping option, which took a while to deliver. In fact, it was delivered 2 days after the range of dates specified by probikekit. I inquired, and they promptly responded. Would buy from here again.
got the conti today installed easy, took a two hour ride just to try them out noticed the improved handing in the first few km i think i will purchase a few more for 2018
My tyre of choice for the past 3 years straight. Nothing performs better or gives me the confidence like these do. Wet, dry weather, severe gradients up or down...never failed me.
Got these on sale at a very decent price, one of the best tires on the market. IMO, best bang for your buck!
I've used several tires over the past but have switched over to the Grand Prix 4000 for several years now. Great traction and last a long time.
Been riding Conti tires for ever, but have tried a few other options - Schwable, Vittoria (though not their newest offerings). Had the Conti GP Force/Attack combo before, too, but appreciate the wider options available on the GP4000... and everything else about them. Also love the PBK multi-buy and other discount options available, making a new pair of these a reasonable purchase.
