Fulcrum Racing 4 C17 Clincher Wheelset

CAD

The Fulcrum Racing 4 C17 is a mid-depth performance-focused alloy wheelset, perfect for racers on a budget. With a 35mm deep rim, this wheelset offers both aero gains on flatter terrain, while also keeping weight to a relative minimum for climbing. Being a performance-orientated wheelset, Fulcrum has designed this wheelset with a slightly wider rim, to ensure that larger tyres can be seated comfortably, helping to minimise rolling resistance and maximise speed.

These performance rims are combined with a set of alloy hubs, which are filled with an industrial quality bearing system. This design results in a lightweight but durable wheel build, with a smooth spin that lasts. By using 16 stainless steel spokes on the front and 21 on the rear, Fulcrum has kept the weight of this wheelset to a minimum, while also maximising stiffness and strength.

fulcrum/campag

beautiful set of wheels. for training excellent price fit nice on my Pinarello

Awsome racing on a budget

Thus wheelset is exactly as described. Wanting a rim brake quality wheelset to race with on a budget. They arrived fast. They were true, easy to install tube and tire on and seem to spin forever. My times improved with the upgrade from a training wheelset. Worth every cent no issues in the first season of racing with them.

Solid wheelset at a great price!

It's been a while since I purchased a new wheelset, but knowing Fulcrum products I knew I couldn't go wrong. So far I have nothing but great things to say about these wheels. They're a solid training set, look great and feel super. May not be the lightest or have the allure of carbon, but I'm not a pro so grams don't count anyhow. Love everything about them!

Great value quality wheels

I’ve done a fair few miles on these wheels and love them. I’m definitely going to get a second pair for a different bike. The silent hub also really lets me tune in to the drivetrain. It’s really nice! Two things to note though. Firstly and most importantly, my cassette needed a very wee shim (not supplied) to work with the rear mech (ultegra). LBS sorted in minutes. Secondly, the rims are pretty deep and I didn’t have valve stems long enough, so it might be worth ordering tubes at the same time. All very much happy with the wheels.

Great Wheels

These wheels replaced my old Fulcrum C4 wheels (7 years old wheels). I am really happy with my old set and decided to go with the new design and bigger profile compare to 25mm. Easy to install and functionality is great. The shimano hub is pretty quiet! Last, these wheels revamp the look on my 2015 Specialized Tarmac!

Disappointed with this wheelset.

I have only done 300km’s on these wheels and after the first ride there was play in the rear bearings. Today I was about to start my ride and realised the front wheel would’nt turn. I’ve taken the spindle out and one of the bearings is totally seized. I’ve been using Mavic and Shimano wheels for years and they have been 100% reliable. There are no dealers anywhere near me so it looks like I’m going to have buy a new bearing.

Excellent wheels

Came quickly and well packaged, as always from PBK. I already had a set of these wheels which have been totally reliable, and am confident that the new wheel set will be the same. Perfect width for 700x25 tyres. Good value.

Great all-round wheels with an aero twist

I use Fulcrum wheels because they work. Racing 4's are no exception, true out of the box, take tyres easily (I use Vittoria Pave 25mm) yet not so loose that you can't ride on a flat, and available at a price that can't be beaten with a hand built alternative. As a rim brake user, an aero shaped aluminium rim is getting harder to find, yet useful when dodging rainclouds on London's streets. These wind up nicely, hold speed well, yet have great braking characteristics when riding in traffic. Racing 4's may not have Record level hubs, which may have weight and rolling advantages, however Record hubs cost as much as a set of these wheels. The industrial bearing hubs that are used work well, can easily be replaced with new bearings and cassette body (I've not had to do this), and remain noise free. As a non technical aside, I don't think of them as a low price point wheelset with an aero look, I think of them as an aero wheelset at a good price point. It is not so long ago that shiny silver (and then black bead blasted rim finish) Shamal's were being raced at the highest levels by Gewiss, and its later itinerations under Moreno Argentin et al. These look like their later versions at a lower price. A set built with Record level hubs would be awesome for those that want aero style aluminium rim wheels for use with Record or S. Record 12v groups, making what's old style new again, and giving those of us who don't race but like nice equipment something that 'fits' at that level. In the meantime, Racing 4's remain my daily use wheels in 'nice' weather (meaning not winter), I don't hanker for anything different (higher cost) as I dodge potholes.

Great buy and quality

I have now ridden on these Racing 4's for 10 months and about 1200 miles. Bought these when I finally broke a spoke on my Williams Cycling System 31's which would spin forever. Probikekit shipped these Pronto. I ride a Blue Competition Axino SL with a Campy Record/Chorus mix gruppo. These wheels are EXCELLENT and take a beating on Texas chipseal roads. Stay true with my 180 lbs weight. Roll and spin well and are great on the flats and rolling hills. Mounted Vittoria Rubino Pros 25 mm tires with ease. If you want a good quality, wallet friendly, tough as nails non carbon wheelset - this is it!!!

Fulcrum Racing 4 Wheelset

Have been riding on them for only two weeks now. Besides looking great they are true and roll well. Hit 35 mph on a big descent several days ago and they rode true with no discernible wobble. They are on the heavy side but when riding on rolling terrain their weight gives them high inertia to roll up the uphill of the rolling terrain.
