Wanted a carbon wheelset....

5

I rode a set of Campagnolo Shamal 2-wayfit's for 12 years and wanted to try a set of carbon wheels. I also wanted a pair of wheels that were a little easier to mount tires by hand. After looking and researching and shopping around I was almost ready to pull the trigger on a wheelset from one of the better known Chinese builders but I couldn't quiet shake some nagging concerns. I don't race but I ride at a good pace and like climbing and I don't relish questioning the integrity of my wheels doing 45-50mph downhill. I don't run tubeless and when I found out that getting tires on the non-2-wayfit version was easier then the version of Shamal's I had I took advantage of ProBike's great pricing for a set. The box they came in was a wreak but the wheels were fine. I took very good care of my previous set and even though they look similar the new pair rolled much better. Much Better!! While they not super aero they are much more so then a box section wheel and they are light! You have to spend 3 times as much to get lighter wheels and these are bullet-proof. My first pair went 12 years and I never had to true them. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. If you don't race and just want a fast pair of reliable and very light wheels, these are the best set of wheels made. The are awesome!

Great buy

I wasn't sure about spending this much -- even with the savings over list price -- for a set of wheels, but these are amazing. They more than live up to the billing while also offering me the long-term durability of metal.

Wanted to add to my previous review

Completed a couple centuries and can only repeat what was said in original review 100x... Forgot to mention wheel bags are included and are typical Campagnolo quality!

This is the 2nd set of Shamal Ultras. Wore out my first. Magnificent wheels. Perfectly true. Ultra smooth bearings. Weight is equivalent to a lot of carbon clinchers. Probably the best alu wheels money can buy. Other than for looks, carbon clinchers don't make sense when you can get these wheels for so much cheaper. They are my go to training and wet weather wheels when I don't want to use my tubs. No sign of water and grit ingress despite the conditions I use them in. As usual, Probikekit has the best price and delivers quickly.

Campagnolo Shamal

I have used Campy since 1971. You can't beat them for durability and smoothness. These wheels simply meet the Campy standard. My last pair had over 125,000 miles and the brake surface was worn thin.

Perfect Wheels!

5

I bought these wheels to upgrade from my old Mavic Kyserium Elite, and I am glad I did. They are super smooth and incredibly responsive. Excellent at climbing, and very stable when descending at high speed. They are the quietest wheels I have ever owned (no clicking whatsoever when coasting), which took some getting used to. They also look fantastic. Highly recommend.

From Euros to Shamal

proves to be a bigger jump than anticipated Lighter, smoother and the best bonus these wheels are quiet when coasting Straight line tracking and stability is much improved-although the slightly wider 25mm tires help as well Campagnolo quality wheels are durable and the Euros wheels remained true for a decade; I caught my heel while moving in the rear wheel and minimal damage I ride a Colnago Dream HP and 25mm is max clearance the new wheel/tire (Corsa G) breathed new life into a vintage bike Great help and feedback from PeoBike as well

Love these wheels

5

I purchased the Shamals with Shimano freehub body. The wheels arrived within a week to Canada and as promised, no duties or taxes, so what I paid to ProBikeKit was it. The wheels came with a nice set of wheel bags. The first time I rode these, I could tell right away the quality was top notch. It feels like there is no resistance whatsoever and the hubs are smooth as butter on a hot summer day. This lack of resistance is exacerbated on the descents as the wheels just seem to pick up speed as I roll downhill. Beautiful wheel, highly recommend. No regrets on my purchase and good experience with ProBikeKit for my first purchase with them.

State of the art fusion of conventional and advanced

5

These wheels are almost impossibly light and strong, and they spin up instantly on both acceleration and descent. Their alloy brake surfaces let you avoid the expense of moving to composite rims and heavy, complex, fork-stressing disc brakes. If you want billboard graphics, look elsewhere, but I like the Shamals' staggered front/rear rim depths, understated graphics, distinctive spoke patterns with chunky bright nipples and hubs showing their carbon fiver weave beneath the resin (although I could live without the cheesy "Extra Smooth Bearings" decal on each hub). The Campagnolo-signature cones and bearings, combined with their user-friendly tuning rings, are the signature of a product built to last. You'll need a 6mm spoke wrench and bladed-spoke holder for truing. Note that because the ceramic bearings ride on steel races, they need the same grease used in conventional steel-on-steel setups.

Rims arrived well packaged with no damage or defects. the 10 speed cassette fit perfectly and the wheels are running smooth and fast. I'm even climbing better! wish the blue brake pads were sent with this purchase though.
